Have you ever read a book so fast so that you can move to another one but don’t want the current one to end? Does that sound like an adrenaline rush of unexplainable feelings? Which author made you experience it though? Not sure about you but this particular reader community resonates with us.
I honestly think Colleen Hoover’s books must come with a box of tissues to wipe your tears, while her deeply painful and piteous characters take you through an emotional roller coaster ride. Also, don’t forget to hoard loads of coffee sachets to keep your motor running as you spend sleepless nights devouring through Colleen’s amusingly fictitious stories.
Why should you read Colleen Hoover?
Her novels fall under New Adult and Young Adult contemporary romance category. She also writes interesting psychological thrillers. Colleen Hoover’s writings are the literary version of Koi no yokan – a Japanese phrase, which means it is not a usual love at first sight. Rather, it is love at second sight. The first chapter of Collen’s books gives you a feeling of falling for a stranger; You know it, but you can’t do anything about it.
Colleen Hoover’s Path To Become A Successful Writer
Collen was initially a social worker. But her passion for writing compelling storylines inspired her to self-publish her debut novel Slammed in 2012, a tale of a teenager dealing with her father’s demise. At the age of 32, Collen went on to write without bothering about the technicality of book publishing, including an agent. She simply hit ‘submit’ on Amazon’s Kindle and went on with her normal life, not caring about the sales.
To her surprise, slammed received a lot of traction, thanks to biblio-blogger, indie reviewers, and the burgeoning culture and habit of e-book reading. Her debut novel hit the New York Times bestseller. Colleen built a successful digital presence for herself even before it was cool and at a time when authors hardly realized the potential of ‘digital impression.’ That shows how visionary and forward-looking Colleen is right from the beginning. Since then, there has been no looking back for Colleen, with over two dozen books in multiple genres, including thrillers and romance.

VERITY
Colleen decides to keep it all dark and gloomy in this book. Verity Crawford, the best-selling author, meets with a terrible accident and struggles to complete a popular series. Jeremy, her husband, and publisher, decides to hire another writer, Lowen Ashleigh, to continue the series. Lowen goes on to look for some notes and research papers to resume working on the book. She discovers a manuscript in the process that turns out to be Verity’s autobiography. Lowen continues to read it in the hope of finding something interesting about Verity.
To her shock, she discovers some unbelievable truths about Verity, which Verity has been hiding from the world. The narrative of this book is peculiar to Colleen’s earlier books. It is a romantic thriller with a horrifying twist.

IT ENDS WITH US
“It ends with us” is one of the most famous works of Colleen Hoover. It was the first book by Colleen I’ve read, and let me confess! I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE THE BOOK!! Lily Bloom, an executive in a marketing company in Boston, realizes she is not happy in her job and quits to pursue her passion as a florist. When she meets the charming but enigmatic Ryle Kincaid, a neurosurgeon in one of the best hospitals in the city, she strongly believes that Ryle is her soul mate. They fall in love with each other. But that hunky-dory romance tails does not last long, as the pressure of their jobs and Ryle’s temper takes a toll on their relationship.
Not all couples question the integrity of their companionship amidst a tussle and ego-clash, but Ryle and Lily are not an ordinary couple you get to see in every other book, though. This book starts with blooming love and ends with an old love resurfacing.
P.S – I started this book for a quick weekend read, and it was indeed the best weekend read of my life.

HEART BONES
Between a drug addict mother and a barely involved father, Beyah lost all the fun and innocence of her childhood. Love is the last thing on Beyah’s to-do list with a pained childhood. It is not in Samson’s plan either, her new neighbour. They cave in and agree to a summer hookup when they fail to fight the attraction anymore. But suppressing feelings for your loved ones is harder than both imagined. What happens next? Colleen touches on the social classes with this book. Comparing how the characters grew up gives a brief about their personalities.
“I think when you’re the worst of people, finding the worst in others becomes a survival tactic of sorts. You focus heavily on the darkness in people in hopes of masking the true shade of your own darkness.”
