The Domino effect of Reading: A reader’s idea of love for Reading

Domino effect of Reading

Have you ever realized how your stress fades away while reading a book? It feels like you are left all alone in this world with your books accompanying your side on your lonely journey. Even with all the gushing emotions, you feel encouraged to pick up another book. Call it obsession!? Nah…LOVE. Call it LOVE for books.

That being said, how much is too much reading? or how much love is too much? For many of us, the journey of becoming an ardent reader is from ‘reading whatever interests you’ to ‘reading as a coping mechanism.’ Let us take you through the journey of a typical reader.

To Read Is To Heal

It is not just about the words on the page, though. It is about the feeling of being immersed in another world, or of getting lost in a story. It is about finding yourself in a character and empathizing with their experiences. Reading is an escape from our own lives and into something else entirely.

It is a way to connect with others who share your passion for stories, too! When you read, you can connect with people who love reading just as much as you do. You can find friends online or in-person who love talking about books as much as you do. If you are feeling down or lonely, reading can help put things in perspective by showing us that there are other people out there who have experienced similar emotions—and survived them!

Reading also helps us grow as individuals because it gives us new perspectives on life and lets us see things through someone else’s eyes. Sometimes when we are stuck in our own ways of thinking about things, reading can help us open up our minds to new ideas and possibilities that might not have occurred to us otherwise.

Reading Permeates A Reader’s Life

The entire humankind is hustling hard in self-discovery. The magic of books is that they get through us, unlike even the best people we know. Whether we read fictional, non-fictional or even self-help books, there is a sense of familiarity that hits us in the process of Reading. When we read it ironically feels like a conversation with the words and the authors about how relatable each and every context of every book feels. The thing about Reading is that only when we are aware of the books we read and appreciate their message do they get through to us and have an impact.

The love for Reading is unconditional because, unlike everything else, books reciprocate with every reader.

“There is something about words. In expert hands, manipulated deftly, they take you, prisoner. Wind themselves around your limbs like spider silk, and when you are so enthralled you cannot move, they pierce your skin, enter your blood, and numb your thoughts. Inside you, they work their magic.” – Diane Setterfield (Author of The thirteenth Tale)

Reading Moulds Us Into Our Best Selves

That is the allure of a good book. It lingers with you long after you have finished reading it, occasionally motivating, elevating, and even challenging your beliefs to help you grow and broaden your perspective. Reading helps in shaping a person. There is a new revelation on how we perceive ourselves with every reader. I mean, just imagine, wouldn’t it be fascinating to discover something new about yourself whilst learning a great story and unforgettable characters.

Every book you read has pieces of yourself scattered throughout it. When you finish a book you enjoy, a piece of it stays with you forever.

Reading has the Power To Change The World

There have been so many revolutionary people our history has witnessed, our present is embracing, and our future is yet too mysterious. Yet, most of them have one thing in common. The love for reading shapes legends and pioneers that change the course of how the world works. It is fair to say that every great thing accomplished by any individual starts with a book.

For the ones who are on this bring-a-revolution spree, every new book brings to the table a new idea, hope and strength to move forward with.

You don’t have to do something extraordinary to bring a change. All you need is a good book and a good read.

Reading offers life-changing tips.

An excellent story can take you to another world. Within the pages of a book, you can fight dragons, meet the love of your life, travel to unknown locations, and laugh with friends. They are an escape that leads you back to your home. Books have the ability to transport you away from the mundane aspects of life. A good tale takes you on a journey through words. Travelling to different places while sitting on your couch and sipping your mocha; if that is not magical, I don’t know what is!

Feeling a bit breezy? Pick your favourite book and get lost in the breathtaking beauty of words. That is ought to add fuel to your love for Reading!

Reading helps you realize.

Realize about what? Sounds odd, huh!? Reading helps you realize the worth of a lot of intangible things in life. Remember learning abstract nouns like love, life, sorrow, and pleasure as a kid in your English classes. How accurately have you comprehended the meaning of these words back then? Be it fictional or non-fictional; books have a way of making you feel the intensity of these feelings.

Reading is the best technique to understand the importance of abstract nouns. Yes, life teaches you everything at its pace. But, on the other hand, Reading allows you to get a firsthand experience of what you have learned before really experiencing it.

Reading is pure love every human soul yearns to experience.

Books don’t hold your past against you; These material things (although we book lovers don’t them deem them as such) are non-judgemental. Instead, they listen. They listen and provide solace when you are upset by whisking you away from reality, even if it is for a few moments. The relationship between a reader and a book is platonic and beautiful. And the best part is that you receive nothing from the relationship but love and wholesomeness at the end of the day.

Reading is an escape

Reading is an escape. No matter how many times we stress on it, it still isn’t enough how reading helps you dissociate yourself from real-life scuffles.  The thing about Reading is that once a reader discovers their love for books, there is no going back. Reading isa natural healer for overthinking. No more 3 am thoughts, stress of work deadlines and forcefully socializing under peer pressure. When you have a good book by your side, the chances of getting consumed by unnecessary affairs around you are automatically reduced.

Reading is entertaining

Books are basically television for intelligent people. Reading is a form of entertainment that can cater to every reader’s mood. Feeling a bit overwhelmed?. Grab a feel-good book and set your mood right. Are you craving some humour? There are a ton of books for humour lovers!! When you realize the entertaining aspect of reading, you will never turn back.

Reading Nurtures passion

Everyone exists, but for an individual to live, it becomes essential to feel everything. And who knows it better than a reader?. Have you ever met a reader who talks about books with so much passion that you wish to be nothing but the character they had so insanely fallen in love with?. That is the beauty of reading. Once you read an amazing book, it brings out the emotions to the surface that were suppressed.

Conclusion

Many readers develop their love for reading early on in life through different sources. Reading is a loop, and it goes on to advance with every book for a reader. To find reasons behind every reader’s love for reading is as limitless as the stories themselves. Reading, for the lack of a better word, is addiction itself. For me, it started with simple walks in the book aisle in the library when I was a young kid. How did your love for reading begin, and why does it become tricky for you to take a break from reading stories endlessly? Let us know in the comment section. And in the meanwhile, let’s get back to our bookshelves!! There is a lot more reading to catch up with!
